I have found over the years that the process and recipe in which someone makes a perfect smoothie to their liking is VERY personal. Some like it thick, some thin. Some sweet, some more bitter. Some people prefer no fruit, where others must have a banana as the base for all their flavorful concoctions. Some enjoy garnishes on top like hemp seeds or cocoa nibs where others just want to dive right in. Understanding this, feel confident in changing these recipes to your liking. Tinker and adjust on the fly with what you have in your pantry and keep tasting until you have found your own perfect smoothie!

How to Make Healthful Smoothies

Ingredients:

GREEN SMOOTHIE

Yields 1 qt:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 pint tuscan kale
  • 1 pint coconut milk
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 medium avocado
  • 1 scoop Athletic Greens
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • coconut water

RED SMOOTHIE

Yields 1 qt:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 dates
  • 1 cooked, peeled red beet
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 pint coconut milk
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • coconut water

WHITE SMOOTHIE

Yields 1 qt:

  • 1 banana
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 pint almond milk
  • coconut water

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender. Gradually increase to highspeed and continue until smooth. Add coconut water until it reaches the consistency of your liking. Add garnishes of choice.
