I would imagine that most of you are familiar with using bone broth in soups and stews, but have you ever thought to use it as a base for your hot chocolate? Well, our resident chef, Michael, surprised us with this incredibly delicious beverage recently, and it did not disappoint!

How to make Spiced Broth Hot Chocolate

Bone broth is a clear, protein-rich liquid obtained by simmering meaty joints and bones in water. Considered by many as an elixir for health, bone broth is a staple in our home pantry. Not only is it an easy way to incorporate more protein, but it also is a powerful source of collagen that further supports your body as it builds bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. I hope you'll try the recipe below the next time you are craving hot chocolate!

Ingredients:

  • Makes 1 pint
  • 1 cup bone broth
  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Pinch of sea salt

Directions:

Warm on stove, whisking thoroughly until combined and warm. Enjoy!
